Dr. Mindy Hochgesang

Dr. Mindy grew up in a rural area just south of Milan, IL. She attended Indiana University at Bloomington, where she earned All-American honors in cross country, and also received her bachelors degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She also received a certificate from the Liberal Arts and Management Program in the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University. In her second year of college, Dr. Mindy decided that dentistry interested her and she decided to apply to dental school. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from South Illinois School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL.

Dr. Mindy has a passion for helping those in need, and served on a dental mission trip to Jamaica to provide treatment to low-income patients. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Scott County Dental Society, the Davenport District Dental Society, and the Illowa Study Club. She is a certified Invisalign® provider, and is proficient at removing teeth, performing root canals, and treating lip and tongue-ties.

After seeing the effects of lip and tongue-ties firsthand – her older daughter had a lip tie and her younger daughter had both a lip and a tongue-tie – Dr. Mindy became involved in diagnosing and treating lip and tongue-ties. After taking several courses and observing other doctors, Dr. Mindy performed the lip and tongue-tie revision on her younger daughter herself. She has presented to chiropractors, dental assistants, speech and language pathologists, and lactation consultants in an effort to spread awareness and help babies, children, and adults affected by lip and tongue-ties.

When Dr. Mindy has time for herself, she loves to run and has completed five marathons. She and her husband, David, have two beautiful daughters – Hannah, 3 years old, and Natalie, 1 year old. They also have a black lab named Hoosier. Her brother, Craig Peterson, is also a dentist and practices at Cornerstone Family Dentistry alongside his sister.
